Product abbreviation: iFIND NTM

Detection Target: Detection Indicators: Mycobacteriaceae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex, Mycobacterium avium, Mycolicibacterium fortuitum, Mycobacteroides abscessus, Mycobacterium kansasii, Mycobacteroides chelonae, Mycobacterium intracellulare and Mycobacterium gordonae.

Cat. No. : 10T/box – 10210103A; 50T/box – 10210103B

Using multiplex PCR melting curve technology, it can accurately identify Mycobacterium, Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and 7 clinically common non-tuberculous mycobacteria (including Mycobacterium avium, Mycolicibacterium fortuitum, Mycobacteroides abscessus, Mycobacterium kansasii, Mycobacteroides chelonae, Mycobacterium intracellulare and Mycobacterium gordonae) at one time, which can not only accurately distinguish infectious Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex from non-infectious non-tuberculous mycobacteria through specific genetic markers, but also accurately locate to the strain level. The test results can be obtained within 2 hours, providing a fast and accurate etiological diagnosis basis for clinical practice: the prevention and control of infectious diseases and standardized treatment can be initiated in a timely manner for Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection; For non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection, targeted plans can be formulated according to different strains, avoid unnecessary anti-tuberculosis treatment, and are suitable for the detection of various respiratory samples, which is an important tool for the diagnosis, epidemic monitoring and precise treatment of mycobacterial infection

Current Status
In recent years, non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections have shown a global epidemic trend, with the incidence rate increasing by 8%-10% annually, becoming a significant public health issue. Common clinically pathogenic species include Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), Mycobacterium abscessus, Mycobacterium kansasii, etc., among which MAC and Mycobacterium abscessus account for the highest proportion in respiratory tract infections. However, the clinical manifestations of NTM infections are highly similar to those of tuberculosis, including chronic cough, hemoptysis, and pulmonary infiltrates, leading to persistently high clinical misdiagnosis rates.
Traditional laboratory diagnostic methods have obvious limitations: culture methods are time-consuming (2-8 weeks) and cannot distinguish between tuberculous and non-tuberculous mycobacteria; routine PCR testing lacks NTM typing capability; while gene sequencing is costly and complex to operate, making it difficult to popularize at the primary care level. These technical bottlenecks result in a large number of NTM-infected patients being misdiagnosed with tuberculosis, which not only delays correct treatment but also causes unnecessary use of anti-tuberculosis drugs.
iFIND Solution
The iFIND Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria Detection System has an outstanding capability to comprehensively cover more than 90% of common NTM species causing respiratory tract infections in China (including 45-55% Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC), 25-35% Mycobacterium abscessus, 8-12% Mycobacterium kansasii, and 5-8% Mycobacterium chelonae/fortuitum complex). It can simultaneously and accurately distinguish between Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, with detection completed within 2 hours—significantly faster than the 2-8 week cycle of traditional culture methods. Its fully enclosed cartridge design and automated analysis process effectively avoid contamination and reduce operational difficulty, making it particularly suitable for medical institutions at all levels to conduct rapid and accurate diagnosis of NTM infections, providing critical evidence for clinicians to formulate precise diagnosis and treatment plans.
